In 1986, Patricia L. Dianis (also known as Penny, for which Penlyn was named) and her husband John established John M. Dianis Construction. They were joined by their four children: Jack started in 1987, Scott in 1988, Vicki in 1991 and Bibianne in 1998. Over the years every family member learned complementary skills in the field and office, forming a true family business, setting a foundation for success.

In 2001, after 45 years in the construction business, John retired and Penlyn Construction Corporation was established. John remains as a trusted consultant, while the family continues the tradition of high quality, solid craftsmanship and good honest work in the Hudson Valley. Penlyn Construction Corporation is WBE Certified.
